inspiration: misty northern city represents the end of zhou’s university years. this work is a combination of his experiences and feelings over four years, and how he has advised people in similar situations to face loneliness. he firmly believes that learning to reconcile with oneself is an essential lesson for everyone in lifetimes, so he wrote five poems in the film each representing: confusion, envy, glimpses of light, enlightenment, and rejuvenation.
